An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale. The boxing is aimed at the machines of the Russian Knights aerobatic team, that is at a striking color finish instead of the usual camouflage. The number of parts, the contents of the decal sheet and the number of schemes offered can be found in the data on the packaging.
The Su-27, under the NATO code name Flanker, is a single-seat twin-engine fighter with a long range, designed to win air superiority. Typical of it is the integral aerodynamic layout, in which the fuselage blends smoothly into the wing and carries most of the fuel, plus a pair of engines in separate nacelles, two vertical tail surfaces and air intakes under the wing center section. Thanks to its large lifting area the aircraft has a low wing loading and impressive agility, which is also the reason why machines of this type are used for public flying displays. The Russian Knights have performed with aircraft of the Su-27 series since the beginning of the 1990s and became famous for formations of several aircraft flying in close order.
A big aircraft means long joints. It is advisable to dry-fit the fuselage, the engine nacelles and the intake ducts, then to glue them in stages and to sand and fill the joints. Finish the cockpit and the gear bays before you close the fuselage. With the color finish of an aerobatic team a thorough procedure pays off: a smooth base, a white undercoat and only then the color stripes bounded by masking tape. Let every coat dry properly, otherwise the tape will pull the paint off. Lay a gloss clear coat before the decals and, once it has dried, unify the surface according to how glossy you want the machine to be. Keep the weathering to a minimum, aircraft at air shows tend to be well kept.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
