The set from the LP Models range combines, according to the name, three airfield items: a boarding ladder to the cockpit, wheel chocks and a service ladder for work on the airframe. This is not a model of the aircraft; there is no airframe or any part of it in the package. It is a resin accessory for aircraft in 1:48 scale.
A model standing on its landing gear looks static. A ladder leaning against the side of the fuselage, chocks placed under the main wheels and service steps at the engine section shift the scene into the reality of ground handling at once. The accessory suits a stand on its own as well as a diorama of an airfield surface with figures and equipment. Because these are separate parts, you can choose the arrangement according to the situation you want to show.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water: remains of mold release agent from the mold prevent the primer and the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc, and never nip them with pliers, as the thin rungs would crack. Sanding is done wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic does not dissolve resin and the joint would not hold. Apply a primer before painting, ideally sprayed. The metal parts of the ladder will stand light drybrushing and a weak wash in the recesses, while the chocks look convincing with a touch of dust at the bearing face.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit of the aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
