This is a full interior photo-etched set from the Eduard brand, intended for detailing the cockpit of a plastic model of the two-seat Su-27UB in 1:48 scale. It is not a model nor a kit. Interior sets of this range combine parts printed in color, which are stuck straight onto the plastic bases, with unpainted etched parts for fine structural elements. With the two-seat version the work is logically more extensive than with the single-seat one - both the front and the rear station are fitted out.
The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the heavy Su-27 fighter. The seats are arranged in tandem and the rear station is set higher, so that the instructor can see forward; a markedly reworked fuselage spine and taller vertical tail surfaces go with that. The aircraft kept the combat capability of the single-seat variant, so it did not serve only for training. Both cockpits basically have analog instruments with round dials.
With a two-seat cockpit it pays to work station by station and to try each one dry before you reach for the glue - the front and rear panels often differ in details and are easily mixed up. Sand the molded relief of the instruments off the plastic beforehand. Attach the painted parts in spots with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally applied with the tip of a toothpick, so that the glue does not get onto the printing. Bend the unpainted etched parts in a bending tool and degrease them before gluing. At the end, even the whole out with a flat coat and add a drop of gloss clear on the dials.
The set is an accessory for a plastic model; it is not a kit in its own right. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
