AML decals 1:48 for the Supermarine Spitfire HF Mk.IXc. A sheet devoted to the high-altitude version of the famous British fighter with the Merlin engine tuned for combat at height.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:48 scale for the Supermarine Spitfire HF Mk.IXc. The HF abbreviation marks the high-altitude variant of the ninth series: a Merlin engine with a supercharger tuned for high altitude gave the aircraft its best performance where the ordinary versions no longer reached. The type C wing allowed a universal makeup of armament with Hispano cannons.
While ordinary Mk.IXs are among the most built models there are, the high-altitude HF variant is a rarer subject, and in building terms it is the same airframe, so the sheet is easy to use with an ordinary Spitfire Mk.IX kit in 1:48. Thanks to the unconventional markings the model will stand apart from a row of colleagues on the competition table.
Prepare the base with gloss varnish, as a flat surface holds air under a decal and causes silvering. Settle the decal in a drop of water, adjust the exact position with a brush and press the surplus water out from the center outwards. Across engraved lines use a decal softener and let the subject draw down without being touched. Finally fix the sheet with a coat of varnish, into which the weathering can be blended straight away.
A modeling accessory; the sheet does not contain the aircraft kit, paints or glue.
