The 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I early version SPACE-3D Decals is a set of Eduard three-dimensional decals for detailing the cockpit of an early Spitfire Mk.I. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for a plastic kit.

A set of three-dimensional decals from the SPACE line by the Czech brand Eduard, intended for detailing the cockpit of a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I in its early form in 1:48. It is not a kit of the aircraft or a part of one but an accessory applied to the finished plastic parts of the base model. The kit itself has to be bought separately.
SPACE decals differ from ordinary flat decals in having a noticeable thickness and a raised relief. That creates the impression of genuinely protruding instruments, levers and plates, which in this scale can hardly be achieved with a brush. They come into their own mainly on the instrument panel, the side panels and the other cockpit surfaces that stay visible after assembly under a slid-back or glazed canopy. The exact make-up of the package and the list of individual decals are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the British fighter with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Early and later machines differed in a number of details of the cockpit equipment, which is why Eduard makes both forms as separate sets. Check which form of the cockpit your kit represents before buying.
Keep the surfaces under the decals smooth, clean and degreased. The technology of three-dimensional decals differs from that of classic waterslide ones: moisten only the backing paper under the element and fix the part with PVA glue (white glue). Do not use decal softener or setting solution; the chemicals would damage the printed resin layer. Work with fine-jawed tweezers and a stick, seat the decal at the first attempt and press it down only lightly, so that the relief is not damaged. We recommend painting the whole cockpit first and letting it dry thoroughly, and only then applying the set.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
