A small resin accessory set intended for swapping the landing gear wheels while building a model in 1:48 scale. It is among the quickest accessories you can add to a model, and it shows in a place everyone notices on a finished model. The set contains wheels only, no other part of the model.
The T-28 Trojan is a single-engined piston two-seat trainer that served from the 1950s for basic as well as advanced pilot training and in later years was used in some countries in light combat roles too. It has nosewheel landing gear, a sturdy structure and a large propeller. The main landing gear wheels on the subject are fairly hefty and clearly visible under the wing.
A plastic wheel is usually split into two halves and where they are glued a groove forms that runs right across the tread. Filling it without damaging the pattern is tiresome work. A resin casting has no parting line, the hub has crisp edges and the tire surface has a fine texture. On a trainer with a simple finish, a small thing like this is one of the few places where a model can be set apart.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to rid it of mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the surface on sanding paper. Check the hole for the axle dry and if need be widen it carefully with a drill bit turned in your fingers. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, not with plastic cement. After primer, the quickest way is to spray the whole part in the hub shade and then outline the tire in dark gray through a circular mask.
The set is an accessory for building a model, not a standalone model. It is supplied unpainted; paints and glue are not included in the package.
