About product

Hawker Tempest Mk.II early version in 1:48 scale from Eduard

This injection-molded plastic kit from the Czech manufacturer Eduard captures the British fighter Hawker Tempest Mk.II in its early version in 1:48 scale. It comes out in the ProfiPACK edition, which adds color photo-etched parts, self-adhesive painting masks and a decal sheet with several RAF marking schemes to the plastic parts. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The Hawker Tempest Mk.II differed from the early Tempests in having a radial engine instead of an in-line one. It came about at the close of the Second World War and entered full service only after the war ended, when it served in the Royal Air Force including units overseas. It was a powerful and rugged fighter of the postwar era.

Building and painting tips

The ProfiPACK edition rewards careful work: complete the cockpit with the color photo-etched parts and protect the glazing with the masks supplied. Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply the paints with an airbrush over a primer and lay the scheme over an even base coat; the final clear coat prepares the surface under the decals.

Who the model is for

  • modelers interested in British fighters
  • builders who will appreciate photo-etched parts and masks in the box
  • collectors of aircraft in 1:48 scale
  • more experienced modelers of the ProfiPACK edition

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
