A resin casting of the Soviet UZR-23 training missile in 1:48 scale from the production of the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory of armament, a less usual subject that will set the stores of a model apart as well as an airfield diorama with equipment being armed.
Alongside live missiles the Soviet Air Force also used training examples designated by the letters UZR. They served for training: ground personnel mastered the handling, transport and loading of munitions on them, while pilots practiced target acquisition with no risk of a live launch. The UZR-23 type is derived from the series of air-to-air missiles used on MiG-23 fighters, with which it shares its shape and dimensions. Training examples tended to be strikingly marked so that they could not be confused with combat munitions, and it is precisely the striking finish that makes them a rewarding modeling subject.
Wash the resin parts free of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the marks down; protect your airways while sanding. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). With training munitions, striking combinations of color and stripes suggest themselves; before painting we recommend looking up period photographs of the particular unit, as the markings differed. The missile will come out splendidly on a munitions trolley beside armorers.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
