An American 1000-pound bomb in 1:48 scale is a resin accessory for an aircraft model, not a kit. It serves to complete a carried store on a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane model. It is a resin accessory from the Czech maker Brengun in 1:48 scale representing an American aerial bomb of the 1000-pound weight class, that is approximately 454 kilograms. The accessory is intended for building a carried store on a model of an American aircraft.
The larger the bomb, the more conspicuous every inaccuracy is on a model. A bomb of the 1000-pound class is a big enough object in 1:48 scale for the parting plane from a plastic mold, a slight ovality of the body and softly cast fins all to show. A one-piece resin casting removes those problems and carries a sharper rendering of the suspension lugs and the reinforcements of the tail section. Its weight is not negligible either: a heavier part has to be glued to a rack properly, or it will come loose in time.
First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and level the area with abrasive paper on a flat surface so that the body stays symmetrical. Sand wet. Bond with super glue, and with a heavier part it pays to reinforce the joint with a short wire pin drilled into both the body and the rack. Apply a primer before painting. When painting, work from a darker shade to a lighter one so that the shadows in the tail reinforcements come out, and do the markings with an airbrush over a mask rather than with a brush.
This is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
