According to the name, the package contains eight resin castings of the American aerial bomb of the 250 lb weight class, that is roughly 113 kilograms, in 1:48 scale. Resin makes it possible to cast the body of a bomb as a single piece with a smooth surface and at the same time to draw out fine details such as the suspension eyes, the reinforcements of the fins and the raised features on the casing. The set suits modelers who want to replace the coarser plastic bombs from a base kit or to add stores that are missing from it.
The AN-M57 bomb belonged to the family of American general-purpose aerial bombs used during the Second World War and in the postwar period. The 250 lb weight class placed it among the lighter weapons, which even single-engined machines carried on underwing or under-fuselage racks. In construction it was a steel body supplemented with a box fin assembly and a fuze in the nose or in the tail. It is precisely the load of stores that fundamentally determines how a model of an aircraft comes across, because it gives away the kind of mission assumed.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water, so that no mold release stays on the surface. The casting block tends to be on the underside of the body; cut it off with a saw and level the area by wet sanding with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Use a primer before painting. For a credible result it pays to add thin marking bands with a brush or with narrow tape and to dust the surface only mildly, so that a bomb does not look factory-new.
