A stand-alone resin figure in 1:48 scale. The casting is modeled seated, with bent legs and the hands in a position on the controls, so unlike a standing figure it has no stand-alone use; it belongs inside a vehicle. Specifically it is conceived for the driver's seat of a small tracked off-road vehicle of the M29 Weasel type.
A seated figure is paradoxically the least visible and at the same time the most effective accessory for a vehicle model. Of the whole figure, once fitted, the upper half of the torso, the head and the hands remain visible, and on a low vehicle sometimes a knee as well, and yet it is only this detail that gives a model scale and removes the impression of an empty shell. Compositionally it pays to turn the head away from the direction of travel so that the scene gets a second direction of view, and to leave enough free space around the vehicle for the profile of the figure to be visible against the background. When you are building a diorama scene, count on the eye finding the figure inside the vehicle only as the second piece of information; nothing from the equipment laid on the bed must cover it.
First a dry fitting into the driver's space. With seated figures it is most often the seating area and the knees that are run into; sand the excess down until the figure seats without pressure, otherwise the interior will crack during gluing. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and scrape the parting line along the sides and thighs with a scalpel held flat; on the parts that are not visible once fitted you will save yourself work. Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and spray on a thin primer. The figure has to be painted before being glued into the vehicle, ideally including the face and hands, because a brush will not get into a finished cab. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and sand wet and with respiratory protection.
The figure is supplied unpainted, as a resin casting. The vehicle, paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
