In 1:48 scale a musical instrument is an object the size of a fingernail, yet it works remarkably strongly in a finished scene: it says at once who lives here or what has been going on, and it breaks up the impression of an empty stage set. Making such a shape by hand is all but impossible - a violin and a guitar both have a rounded body, a thin neck and exact proportions that cannot be put together from plastic strip. Four different instruments in one box also cover more kinds of scene: the string instruments suit a period interior, the guitars a more modern one.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks away with a sharp scalpel; support the part at the thin necks of the instruments so that they do not break off. Sand down the mold seams and protect your breathing while sanding, as resin dust should not be inhaled. The parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray a thin primer. On wooden instruments a light brown base works well, with a glaze in a darker shade over it and a gloss clear coat at the end - it is the gloss that gives the impression of varnished wood. Suggest the strings and the tuning gear with a fine tip in a metal color; a saturated gloss shade suits the body of the electric guitar. Given the size of the part, leave out heavy washes - a discreet shadow under the fingerboard is enough.
It is a diorama accessory, not a kit. Paints, glue, figures and a base are not included in the package.
