Photo-etched wire entanglements in 1:48 scale from Aber. A diorama accessory for building field fortifications and obstacles.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal accessory in 1:48 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It is neither a model of a vehicle nor a part of one but an element of a diorama — wire entanglements, that is field obstacles of barbed wire strung between posts. The etched metal holds its shape, can be bent and at close quarters looks considerably finer than an improvisation from wire.
Wire entanglements were among the basic elements of field fortification from the First World War to the present day. In a diorama they help to build a story — they mark a defensive position, the boundary of a camp or a trench — and at the same time they set the area of the scene apart visually.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat. Degrease the posts and the wire before gluing, and glue them into the base of the scene with cyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy. Paint them a dark rusty base shade, add a dry brush and a light wash — an entanglement that looks brand new is not believable.
This is a diorama accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and other materials are not included in the package.
