Darne Lewis machine guns with half heat sinks 1:48 (GasPatch, 2 pieces, resin) is a resin set of two French First World War aircraft Lewis guns for experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of two finely cast French aircraft Lewis machine guns in the version with half heat sinks, in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory for its armament. In aircraft use the cooling jacket of the Lewis was often shortened, because the airflow in flight cooled the weapon sufficiently; the version with half heat sinks reproduces this modification faithfully. The fine resin casting captures the structure of the fins, the pan magazine and the body of the weapon far better than plastic. GasPatch makes fine resin and metal details. The parts are intended for more experienced modelers used to working with resin.
The Lewis machine gun was widely used in the observer's (flexible) role on French and Allied aircraft of the First World War. In French production it was supplied by the Darne works, among others. For aircraft use the cooling jacket around the barrel was modified, which led to the characteristic variants with the cooling fins partly removed.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
