1:48 WWII Germany Army Food Sack is a printed paper diorama accessory in 1:48 scale with the design of a period food sack. It is not a kit and not a waterslide decal but a sheet from which you cut the accessory out and glue it together.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet from the maker ETA diorama is meant for building dioramas and vignettes in 1:48 scale. The printed food sack is used in a scene as part of the load on a bed, as supplies stacked by a field kitchen, as the contents of a supply vehicle or as a small item at the feet of figures. Accessories of this kind fill the empty places in a scene and give it scale, because a viewer judges the size of the surroundings at once from a familiar object.
A paper sack works best when it does not stay flat. Cut the shape out with a scalpel, glue it into a sleeve and fill it with something soft: modeling putty, a piece of foam or fine sawdust. The volume then shapes a realistic bulge through the paper. Strengthen the edges and seams with a thin layer of white (PVA) glue applied with a brush; once dry the paper hardens and holds its shape.
In a scene several sacks stacked on one another look more convincing than a single piece. Stack them with a slight offset and let the lower pieces appear squashed by the weight of those above; you achieve that by filling the lower sacks more softly. Unify the contact with the base with a drop of thinned glue and a little dust pigment on the contact area.
Go over the white cut edges with an earth color. Then knock the surface back with a very thin brown wash, which brings out the folds, and add pigments to suit the setting: dust, mud or handling marks. A final matte varnish brings the sheen level with the surrounding materials and protects the paper from damage during further work on the diorama.
This is a printed paper accessory for a diorama. Glue, paints and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
