1:48 Yakovlev Yak-23DC (outside and inside masks) is a self-adhesive Montex masking set for the glazing frames of the two-seat trainer version. It is not a model, but an accessory for a 1:48 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Shaped masks for the cockpit glazing of the two-seat trainer conversion of the Yak-23 jet fighter. According to the name, the set holds masks for the outside and the inside of the frames. The two-seat conversion has different and longer glazing than the single-seat machine, so neither universal templates nor tape cut by eye will do.
The Yak-23 was an early Soviet single-engine jet fighter with a straight wing and a layout with a short fuselage and a streamlined tail boom. It came about in the second half of the 1940s as a simple, light type, and in the 1950s it served with the Soviet Air Force and with other users as well. The designation DC was carried by the two-seat trainer conversion with dual controls, a modified cockpit and a second station for the instructor.
Jet cockpits with a large glazed area take a heavy coat of paint badly. So spray thinly and rather in two passes, with an adequate pause between coats. Lower pressure and thinner paint give a smoother edge than one heavy coat. Degrease the glazing before applying the masks, lay each mask on dry and press it down with a soft tool. Paint the inside frames before the transparent part is glued into the fuselage, so that the cockpit is finished before you close it up.
The package holds masking templates only. The kit and the paints are not part of it.
