An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Chance Vought F7U-3 Cutlass carrier jet fighter in the unusual 1:60 scale. It is a reissue of a classic Revell tooling with a long history, which collectors and lovers of old kits will appreciate above all. The model has the character of a period kit: simpler breakdown, raised panel lines and a nostalgic hand. The package holds plastic sprues, decals and instructions.
The Chance Vought F7U Cutlass was an American carrier fighter of the US Navy of the 1950s and one of the most unusual machines of its day. Its tailless layout with a short fuselage, two engines and tall vertical tails on the wing gave it a futuristic look. The design was technically bold but demanding in service; even so the Cutlass went down in history as a striking attempt at a new generation of carrier fighters.
With a classic tooling, expect careful dry-fitting and filling of the seams, above all on the fuselage and where the wing joins. Join the plastic with thin modeling cement, sand the seams down and restore any lines that have been sanded away. For period naval schemes a gloss blue suits well; if you choose a metallic paint, stir it thoroughly and apply it with an airbrush over a smooth surface. Lay the decals onto a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
