This is a modeling accessory, not a model. On the sheet there are pre-cut outlines of the deck areas, which are stuck onto the deck of a model of the battleship Yamato in 1:700 scale that has already been built or is under way. The templates are cut to the shape of the deck of the particular kit named with this product, so check before buying that you have exactly that version of the kit.
The decks of large battleships have a complex outline in 1:700 scale: the linoleum or wooden area winds around the superstructures, the turrets, the hatches and the breakwaters. Cutting such a shape out of masking tape by hand is lengthy and seldom precise. A ready-made template removes this work, the edges come out crisp and symmetrical on both sides and the color transition between the deck and the steel areas looks clean even under a magnifier.
Before masking, wash the model in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry thoroughly so that the film holds. Let the paint under the mask mature properly, with acrylics rather a day and with enamels longer. Carry the templates with tweezers, lay them on dry, check the fit and only then press the edges down with a toothpick or a wooden stick. Spray perpendicular from above and in several very thin coats so that paint does not get under the edge. Take the mask off slowly and at a sharp angle, while the paint is only dry to the touch and not over-hardened.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and glues are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
