Twelve turned metal barrels of 152 mm caliber in 1:700 scale, intended to be exchanged for the plastic parts of the secondary battery. It is a detail accessory for builders of ship models, not a kit. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber, whose turned barrels are a standard in the small ship scales.
Besides their nine 406 mm guns, the battleships Nelson and Rodney also carried a 152 mm secondary battery mounted in twin turrets in the after part of the ship. These guns were to fire on lighter surface targets, destroyers above all. In 1:700 scale plastic barrels of this caliber come out very slender, bend easily and their muzzles stay blind, so a metal replacement solves several problems at once.
Work one turret at a time. Cut off the plastic barrel, level the face of the turret with a file and drill a hole for the pin. Because there are twelve of them, it pays to make a simple jig so that all the barrels point in the same direction and have the same elevation. Glue the metal parts with a minimum amount of super glue. Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a metal primer; only then apply the shade of the hull and superstructures. At the end a gentle emphasis of the muzzles with a dark shade helps.
This is an accessory set for a model, not a ship kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
