An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak fighter biplane in 1:72 scale from RS models. It captures the Bk-534 cannon version, on which an engine-mounted cannon firing through the propeller hub was added compared with the basic B-534. It is a short-run kit with engraved panel lines, a simply arranged cockpit and decals for several variants. The Bk-534 is a separate subversion of the B-534 family; while building, follow the instructions, which set apart the parts of the cannon variant.
The Avia Bk-534 was the cannon version of the successful B-534 fighter biplane. A cannon was built into the vee of the license-built Hispano-Suiza V12 engine, its barrel passing through the hollow shaft of the reduction gear and firing through the propeller hub, a so-called engine-mounted cannon. In practice, though, the cannon armament suffered from technical trouble, so on some machines it was replaced by another machine gun. The Bk-534 thus documents the effort of its day to increase the firepower of a biplane before modern monoplane fighters arrived.
Allow for the short-run character: cut the parts from the casting blocks, clean them up and dry-fit them, and only then glue. Glue the small parts with cyanoacrylate. Do not forget the bracing wires between the wings, made with fine thread according to the diagram. Use primer and an airbrush; mask the small windscreen before painting and bring the fabric surfaces alive with gentle shading, a wash into the engraved lines and a discreet patina.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
