The masking set 1:72 Avia S-99 / S-199 from the Peewit brand. An accessory for a model, for precise masking while painting; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the Peewit brand in 1:72 scale holds pre-shaped self-adhesive masks that are stuck onto the surfaces that are to stay free of paint before spraying. It is a modeling accessory, not a kit of the aircraft. According to the name it is intended for the postwar Czechoslovak Avia S-99 and S-199 fighters.
The Avia S-99 and S-199 were fighters built after the Second World War in Czechoslovakia on the basis of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G design. While the S-99 used the original Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12, on the S-199 a Junkers Jumo 211 powerplant was taken up, with a propeller derived from bomber aircraft. The combination of strong torque and a broad-bladed propeller worsened the behavior of the machine above all on take-off and landing, which is where its nickname Mezek, meaning mule, comes from. The aircraft served with the Czechoslovak Air Force and part of the production was exported. Externally it differs from the Bf 109G above all in the cowling of the nose and the shape of the exhausts.
First wash the glazing in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry out thoroughly, so that the masks hold well. Place them with tweezers and press the edges down, so that no paint runs underneath. It pays to spray the frames first in the interior shade, then in the base color and finally in the camouflage finish. Spray perpendicularly and in thin layers. Any adhesive residue left after peeling the masks off can be removed with a soft cloth slightly dampened with alcohol, but not on fresh paint.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The plastic model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. We recommend checking the fit with your kit before buying.
