Resin wheels for the Curtiss P-40 in the B, C, E, M and N versions in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer AML — a simple way to give the landing gear of a model sharper detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set from the Czech manufacturer AML replaces the main wheels in kits of the Curtiss P-40 fighter in 1:72 scale. Thanks to its broad coverage of the B, C, E, M and N versions it serves most of the usual kits of this type. It is an accessory, so there is no stand-alone model in the package.
Wheels are among the places where injection-molded kits often economize: the mold parting line runs across the tread, the pattern is shallow and the hubs lack detail. Resin castings are cast in one piece, so gluing halves together and cleaning up the joint falls away, and the fine relief of the hubs and the tread stands up to a close look. Swapping the wheels is also one of the simplest modifications there is, an ideal first step toward resin accessories.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American fighter deployed on most fronts of the Second World War, from North Africa through the Pacific to the Eastern Front. The versions from the early B to the late N differed in engine and armament, but the landing gear kept a similar arrangement, which is why the set covers such a broad range.
The set is an accessory; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
