A sheet of waterslide decals from HAD models with the military markings of the multipurpose Antonov An-2 biplane for Russian, Polish and Hungarian machines. One sheet therefore covers three different national markings, which is practical when building several examples of the same type. The sheet is meant to supplement or replace the decals from the box.
The An-2 is a single-engine strut-braced biplane with a radial engine, a tailwheel and fabric covering over much of the airframe. It came about as a general purpose machine for agriculture, transport, parachute dropping and liaison duties, and it became famous for its ability to take off and land on short, unprepared ground. In military service it was used mainly as a transport, liaison and parachute aircraft and was operated by a number of armies in central and eastern Europe. It was also built in Poland, where production went on for a very long time.
With fabric covering, bear in mind that the surface should be smooth and glossy only under the decal and not over the whole model. Cut the designs close to the artwork, soak them in warm water and let them release of their own accord. Across the ribs of the covering and the struts use a softener in several weak coats, so that the decal settles without rippling. Once dry, unify the surface with matte varnish, as fabric surfaces take a deeper mat better than a semi-gloss.
