The decal set from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:72 scale is intended for models of the Soviet Lavochkin La-5F fighter. The well printed sheet lets you finish the model with markings that are crisp, richly colored and easy to apply — exactly what older kits of this type often lack.
The La-5 grew out of a rebuild of the older LaGG-3, into whose airframe the designers fitted a powerful radial engine. The La-5F version with an improved powerplant brought higher performance at low and medium altitudes, where most of the dogfights on the Eastern Front took place. From 1943 the La-5F played a marked part in the turn of the air war and many Soviet aces flew it. Its mostly wooden structure allowed production in large series even in difficult wartime conditions.
Apply the decals over a gloss base by the wet method; the position can be fine-tuned with a brush dipped in water. Use a decal softener on textured surfaces and engraved lines and let the motif dry untouched. Wipe the glue residue away with a damp cloth and seal the whole with a clear coat — on Eastern Front machines a matte finish with light weathering suits better.
This is a decal sheet — an accessory, not an aircraft kit. The particular schemes on the sheet depend on the current issue from the manufacturer.
