The Dornier Do 17 is a German twin-engine aircraft of the second half of the 1930s. For its unusually slender fuselage, which arose from a requirement for speed, it was nicknamed the flying pencil. The machines of this family served in the bomber as well as the reconnaissance role and saw a series of versions that differed mainly in their power plant and in the glazing of the nose. The designation Do 17 M in the name identifies one of them.
This is a separate decal sheet in 1:72 scale, that is an accessory to a kit already bought. It carries the markings of a machine with the tactical code 7K+CK. The exact extent of the sheet, that is whether besides the code it also contains national insignia, technical lettering and data for the color scheme, is stated by the manufacturer's own description and instructions. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas a waterslide decal that has not been soaked can be soaked later. With an ordinary waterslide decal, proceed by cutting the individual motif out, immersing it in water for a few seconds and letting it rest until it begins to slide across the backing. It is applied onto a glossy and degreased surface, because on matte varnish white patches arise under the film. Once it has settled, press the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges; on intricate places a softener helps, and finally secure everything with a sealing varnish.
