This is not an aircraft model but a small accessory. A 1:72 scale resin set from CMK, a Czech brand specializing in resin add-ons, it reproduces the German onboard camera designated ESK 2000 B, used during the Second World War. It is a typical example of a detail that a production kit either leaves out or renders as a suggested shape only — and yet it is clearly visible on the model. Given the subject and the scale the set is very small; the exact make-up of the package is stated on the box.
Gun cameras on fighters were most often installed in the wing leading edge or in the forward fuselage and were triggered together with the armament. They served to record an engagement and to assess it afterwards. That is exactly why they are interesting on a model: a small item that places a finished model in a definite era at once and raises its technical credibility. A resin casting in 1:72 captures the shape of the lens and of the body far better than an injection-molded plastic part.
With very small resin parts the main risk is losing the part, not the difficulty of gluing it — work over a tray with a raised rim and use tweezers. Wash the casting first in warm soapy water. Cut the casting block off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw and wet-sand the surface with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) in the smallest possible amount — an excess of glue floods a small detail instantly. Paint the part before you fit it, held on a toothpick or a piece of wire. The lens can be suggested with a drop of clear varnish once the dark base color is on. Always try the position dry before gluing it into the model.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. Please check compatibility with your own kit before you buy.
