Replacement exhaust nozzles for a model of the F-14A Tomcat carrier aircraft in 1:72 scale, in both the open and the closed form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American twin-engined carrier fighter with a crew of two and with a variable-geometry wing. The F-14A version was the first production variant. The exhaust nozzles change shape according to the engine setting: on a machine standing or taxiing they are usually open, while in flight they are closed up. On a model it is a detail that says a great deal about the situation being shown.
Replacement nozzles in both positions, that is, open and closed, to be exchanged for the matching parts of the kit. The builder thereby chooses whether to build the model as a machine ready on the deck or as one in flight. Separately supplied nozzles tend to have a thinner wall and a better worked interior, which in such a small scale shows above all at the edge.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder, so that a thin edge is left. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Paint the inside of the nozzle before you seat it in the fuselage; afterwards it is out of reach. Apply the metal shades and the heat staining in thin coats and grade them apart, as a uniform area looks flat on a model. The particular procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
