A turned metal 75 mm KwK 40 L/43 barrel for the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. F2, 1:72 from the Polish maker Aber. An accurate replacement for the plastic barrel, muzzle brake included.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:72 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It is not a kit of a tank but a detail accessory that will replace the plastic barrel supplied in the base model. The metal part is perfectly straight, it has no mold parting line and no ejector marks, and the muzzle is drilled out, so it looks like a real weapon rather than two glued halves.
The Panzer IV received the 75 mm KwK 40 gun with a barrel 43 calibers long in the Ausf. F2 version in the spring of 1942. It was a fundamental change — the short support howitzer in service until then gave way to a long high-velocity anti-tank weapon, which turned the Panzer IV into the main German battle tank of the second half of the war. Its characteristic marks are a single-baffle pot-shaped muzzle brake and a long slender barrel.
Cut the plastic barrel off with a razor saw as close to the turret face as possible and clean the hole out with a drill or a tapered cutter. Glue the metal part with cyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and lay down a base coat for metals, or the paint will flake off. Create the dust and burn residue around the muzzle brake with a dark pigment applied with a dry brush.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
