Gloster E.28/39 1:72 - engine set is a resin detail accessory for refining the powerplant of a model, not an aircraft kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set meant to replace or complete the powerplant on a model of the first British jet aircraft. It is not a kit, but a detail set for modelers who want the engine bay open or at least more faithfully rendered. The exact number of parts and the extent to which the set covers the engine are given on the packaging of the set.
The Gloster E.28/39 carried a turbojet with a centrifugal compressor, the layout typical of the earliest generation of British jet units. The engine sat in the rear part of the short fuselage, and air reached it through a nose intake and split ducts running around the pilot's compartment. The engine section is the technically most interesting part of this aircraft, because it proved that an entirely new kind of powerplant could be used in ordinary flight. Two prototypes were built, serving purely for research.
Resin parts have to be handled differently from plastic. First wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the remains of the mold release agent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, not with cutters, so that the part does not shatter. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate, possibly with an accelerator. Fine edges and duct transitions are worth test-fitting dry inside the fuselage, because every coat of paint inside reduces the clearance. Spray the engine in metallic shades, darken it with a suitable wash and vary the surface where it was heat-stressed.
This is a modeling accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
