An injection-molded plastic kit of the command version of the Boxer armored vehicle in the version used by the Dutch armed forces. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, it is built in the classic way with cement for polystyrene, and in 1:72 scale it stays undemanding in space even once completed, so it is easily added to a collection of modern equipment or to a smaller diorama.
The Boxer is an eight-wheeled armored vehicle built on a modular principle: a common drive platform carries an interchangeable mission module, according to which a troop carrier, an ambulance, an engineer or a command version comes about. The command version serves as a mobile workplace for a staff, so it has a bulkier superstructure with room for communications and computing equipment and a richer antenna fit than the transport variant. The design places emphasis on ballistic and mine protection for the crew while keeping road mobility over great distances. The vehicle came about in international cooperation and serves with several European armies, among them precisely the Dutch ground forces.
Separate the parts from the sprues with photo-etched or thin modeling nippers and sand the remains of the gates down, so that they do not disturb the edges of the panels. The chassis and the underside of the hull are more easily painted before the superstructure is closed. Use a primer before spraying, which unifies the surface and brings the fine relief out. Mask the tires with a ring of masking tape or paint them separately and fit them at the very end. For weathering, a darker wash into the pressings and the transitions of parts and light pigments on the wheels and fenders suit well, which give the vehicle the dusty look common on wheeled equipment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
