Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.Ia RAAF 1:72 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter in Royal Australian Air Force service by the Czech manufacturer AZ model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the export version of the Curtiss P-40 fighter designated the Kittyhawk Mk.Ia. The package contains plastic sprues and waterslide decals for three machines of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). It is a kit by the Czech manufacturer AZ model.
The Kittyhawk Mk.Ia was the export equivalent of the American P-40E, also known as the Hawk 87A-2. The machines, with the Allison V12 engine and six machine guns, proved themselves in ground support and as multirole fighters. Australian squadrons deployed them above all in the Pacific and North African theaters in 1942 and 1943.
Cleaning up the parts and checking the fit, especially around the engine cowling and the radiator under the fuselage, is advisable. Use liquid cement for plastic and a thin primer. The characteristic shark-mouth face stands out when the decals are laid carefully onto a gloss surface. Apply the shades with an airbrush in thin coats and add weathering to match the setting of the deployment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
