A model in 1:72 scale capturing one particular work of the Czechoslovak light fortifications, namely the model 37 type in the A execution with an angle between the axes of the embrasures of 180 degrees and in the reinforced resistance class. The designation in the name refers to the particular number of the work in the sector near Hevlin in southern Moravia. This pointed focus on one surviving work is typical of the products of the manufacturer ROP o.s. and sets them apart from general diorama structures.
The light works of model 37, commonly called ropiks, were small reinforced concrete firing structures built in the second half of the 1930s as part of the Czechoslovak border fortifications. They were built in several types according to the arrangement of the embrasures and in several classes of resistance, which differed in the thickness of the walls and the roof. Type A with two side embrasures was the most widespread; the angle given in the designation describes the mutual orientation of the fields of fire. The works have survived in great numbers and many of them are maintained today, so the appearance of the real subject for building the model can easily be compared with reality in the field.
Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry perfectly; with cast models that decides the adhesion of the paint. Then unify the surface with a base color. Never do concrete in a single shade: lay down a medium gray, add irregular lighter and darker areas, bring out the joints left by the formwork with a dark thinned wash and liven the edges up with a dry brush. Leave the inside of the embrasures markedly dark, otherwise the work looks flat. Do water streaking, moss and growths of algae only from below and in the places where damp collects. Finally set the model into grassy terrain and dust the lower edge with pigments in the shade of the surrounding soil, so that the structure does not look as if it were built on a board.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
