This is an accessory for your own kit, not a model in its own right. The package contains two resin Lewis Mk I machine guns in the early aviation form, on which, according to the name, the front part of the cooling jacket has been removed. That exposes the barrel and the internal cooling elements, which are hidden on the enclosed form.
The Lewis was air-cooled and had a cylindrical jacket around the barrel that drew air in and led it along the cooling body. At altitude and in the airflow behind the propeller, however, it turned out that the aircraft itself provided the cooling, so the jacket mainly represented extra weight and drag. In practice it was therefore removed wholly or in part, which led to several different shapes of the same weapon. This variant corresponds to the form with the front part exposed.
An exposed barrel means that there are more fine shapes on the part that can be damaged. Handle the parts with tweezers and leave the casting block in place until the machine gun is ready to be glued. Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, sand wet and with respiratory protection. Use cyanoacrylate glue; cement intended for plastic will not join resin. When painting, it pays to set the barrel apart from the jacket and the magazine by shade, because it is exactly the contrast in this area that makes the part legible in a very small scale.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as separate resin parts. The kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
