GasPatch Lewis Mk.I Standard 1:72 (2 pieces)

A resin detail accessory for models of First World War aircraft in 1:72 scale. The package contains a pair of Lewis Mk.I aircraft machine guns in the standard form, made with exceptional delicacy. This is not an aircraft kit, but armament with which you replace the coarser plastic machine guns from the box.

The real subject

The Lewis was a light machine gun with a characteristic cooling jacket and a top-mounted drum magazine. In its aircraft version it was widely used as the observer's flexible weapon, often with the cooling jacket removed, because the airflow in flight took the place of the cooling.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release agent off the small resin parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and clean them up with respiratory protection. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The machine gun comes into its own after painting with a dark metallic color and gently picking out the edges with a dry brush.
