A masking set in 1:72 scale for a model of the American Lockheed T2V-1 Seastar trainer.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed T2V-1 Seastar was an American trainer with a single jet engine, adapted for training navy pilots. It differed from its land-based training predecessor in modifications for operation from an aircraft carrier and in a raised rear seat for the instructor, thanks to which he had a view forward over the head of the student.
The glazing of the cockpit is the most visible part of a model and at the same time the hardest to cover. Trimming tape by hand directly on the part tends to be slow, and the line of the frame then does not come out straight. Masking shapes prepared in advance shorten this work and the edge of the sprayed finish comes out sharp.
Wash the clear parts first and let them dry completely, as a mask will not grip grease. Lift the individual shapes with tweezers and lay them exactly along the frames; press them down over their whole area, so that no paint runs under the edge. The masks are stuck on before spraying, never onto dried paint. Spray the color of the frames first and, once it has dried, the rest of the finish. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it at an angle to the surface, not perpendicularly upward. Wipe off any adhesive residue with a soft cloth.
The masking set is supplied. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
