A set of painting masks, Luftwaffe Balkenkreuze Mid – Part I in 1:72 scale, from the brand Armycast for applying the mid-war German national crosses directly in paint.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for spraying the mid-war variants of the German national cross (Balkenkreuz) onto models of Luftwaffe aircraft in 1:72 scale. You apply the crosses directly in paint: you lay the mask on, spray the color layers with an airbrush, and once it is removed you get a sharp marking with no carrier film and no silvering. The Part I designation marks the first volume of a series, which can be rounded out with the sets that follow.
During the war the form of the Balkenkreuz changed. Mid-war renderings often already used simplified outline crosses with a narrower white (and sometimes black) border instead of a solid black area. The particular shape differed according to the period, the type of aircraft and the position.
Outline crosses call for careful layering of colors and accurate pressing down of the edges of the mask. Spray thin coats, so that no ridges form at the edges. Painted markings take weathering excellently and do not create silvering on a matte finish as a decal does.
This is a separate set of masks. The models, paints and an airbrush are not included in the package.
