Beaching gear is an auxiliary wheeled device on which a seaplane or a flying boat gets from the water onto dry land. It does not belong to the aircraft permanently; once it is launched onto the water it is detached. This resin set in 1:72 scale offers such a trolley as an accessory to a model of the Macchi M.33 racing boat. It is not a kit of an aircraft; you need to have the base model.
The Macchi M.33 was an Italian racing flying boat of the mid-1920s, built for the international Schneider Trophy speed races. Unlike its biplane competitors it was a monoplane with a separate boat hull and a high-mounted engine with a tractor propeller. The design was subordinated to a single aim, speed over the course, and the aircraft therefore had no landing gear with which to move on land.
First wash the castings in warm water with detergent because of the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the thin members of the trolley off the casting blocks with a sharp saw and rather leave a margin, sanding them back only in place. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; on small parts the gel version and tweezers work well. Apply a filler before painting. The beaching gear is also worth displaying on its own under the model on a base, because a model of the water surface otherwise calls for a diorama.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
