1:72 Map stand

Brassica 1:72 map stand

This product is a small diorama accessory from Brassica in 1:72 scale - it is not a vehicle kit but a scenic prop. It is a stand with a display (tourist) map of the kind found at a railway station, on a town square or at a tourist stop. The accessory gives a diorama or a vignette an inhabited, everyday character and a small point of orientation that draws the eye.

What the accessory is for

It is exactly such small things that make a scene believable. A map stand sets the figures in a particular place - as if someone had stopped at it to find the way. It suits civilian and period scenes alike in the small 1:72 scale, where density of detail matters doubly. In small scales it is precisely the small props that give a scene its sense of scale and orientation; a stand moreover naturally creates a place around which the action happens and offers a reason for the figures to stop.

Building and painting tips

• Clean the accessory up and set it on a level surface of the scene.
• Set the structure of the stand apart from the face of the map in both shade and sheen.
• Protect the printed map artwork from rubbing with a matte clear coat.
• A light wash and a dry brush give the stand wear and definition.

Who the set is for

• For builders of dioramas and vignettes in 1:72 scale.
• For modelers who complete a scene with small props.
• For builders of railway station, town and tourist scenes.
