This product is not a kit and these are not decals either. It is a set of masking stencils that are stuck onto a sprayed model and define the shapes of the individual fields of a digital camouflage. A digital or pixel pattern is made up of a great many small angular areas, and drawing or taping them by hand is slow and only rarely looks regular - a ready-made stencil cuts that work down fundamentally.

The real subject

The Su-27 is a heavy twin-engine fighter with a blended fuselage and wing, twin vertical tails and great range without external tanks. The Ukrainian Air Force has operated these machines for a long time, and some of them received a multicolor camouflage pattern made up of small angular fields instead of the earlier large-area schemes.

The spraying procedure

• Always test the adhesion of the masks on an invisible part of the model first.
• The surface has to be fully cured. On fresh paint a mask sticks and will pull it off when removed.
• Work from the lightest shade to the darkest and apply the paint in thin coats - a heavy coat creates a noticeable step at the edges.
• Spray perpendicular to the mask, not at an angle, otherwise the paint will creep under the edge.
• Remove the masks shortly after the paint has dried, while the film is still flexible; when removing them, roll them back over themselves rather than straight upward.

Who the set is for

For modelers who want to spray digital camouflage accurately and without lengthy cutting of their own stencils. Spraying several shades through masks assumes a certain confidence with an airbrush, so this is rather an aid for more advanced builders.

This is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
