An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Toyota sedan with the JZX90 chassis in 1:24 from the maker Aoshima. The name takes in the sister models Chaser and Cresta and the designations of the equipment versions Avante, Lucent and Tourer, that is the patterns in which this line was sold in 1993. Aoshima reissues its automobile kits, so other releases of close patterns may exist at the same time. Tell them apart by the model year and the designation of the version.
The JZX90 chassis carries the generation of the Toyota Mark II, Chaser and Cresta sedans of the first half of the 1990s. They are cars with the engine at the front and rear-wheel drive, fitted with 1JZ-series inline six-cylinder engines, in the more sporting versions in turbocharged form as well. The Chaser and the Cresta differ mainly in the treatment of the front and rear ends and in the names of the equipment grades, but technically they are very close cars. The combination of rear drive, accessible power and an unassuming sedan body made them one of the mainstays of the Japanese tuning scene.
The flat surfaces of a sedan body reveal every imperfection, so thorough sanding and filler primer pay off. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and mask the window trim with tape. If you want to build the car in a tuned form, think the stance of the body and the gap from the wheels to the fenders through in advance and try them dry. Leave the interior in subdued shades and bring out the detail of the dashboard with a fine brush. Prepare a gloss base under the decals and clear coat the surface afterward.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
