An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian single-seat Macchi MC.202 Folgore fighter in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The box holds plastic parts on sprues, a clear cockpit part, a decal sheet for several versions and instructions with color schemes. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The MC.202 Folgore (lightning) was one of the best Italian fighters of the Second World War. It came about by reworking the earlier MC.200 type with a German inverted V12 DB 601 engine built under license, which gave it an aerodynamically clean nose and excellent performance. It was fast and agile, and in the early versions it was armed with a pair of Breda-SAFAT machine guns in the nose. It was deployed in many theaters, where it was among the opponents to be feared.
Glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic. Protect the cockpit and the clear canopy with masks and spray over a primer coat. Italian fighters carried characteristic mottled camouflage, and an airbrush is ideal for the soft transitions and the mottling. A gloss coat helps before the decals, and a matte coat over them evens the surface out. A fine wash brings out the panel lines and the shadows, which gives the model scale depth without overdone grime.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
