This limited edition kit from the Japanese firm Hasegawa is based on its well-proven model of the MiG-27 in 1:72 scale. The edition belongs to a range in which Hasegawa combines its own molds with subjects from Japanese aviation comics: the model carries the fictional livery of a machine flown by a pilot nicknamed Colonel Killvic.
The MiG-27, Flogger-D in the NATO reporting system, is a Soviet single-seat fighter-bomber developed from the MiG-23 fighter. It kept the variable-geometry wing, but for attacks on ground targets it received simplified fixed air intakes, strengthened landing gear and the characteristic sloped nose with its aiming sensors, which earned it the nickname duck nose. The armament consisted of a six-barrel 30 mm rotary cannon and a broad range of bombs and rockets on stations under the fuselage and under the wings. The type served from the 1970s with the Soviet Air Force and with other operators, India among them.
Plan the position of the wings before gluing: spread out they come into their own on an in-flight stand, while swept back they suit the aircraft on the ground with the canopy open. Glue the small antennas and the pitot tube on only after painting. Lay down a gloss clear coat under the decals so that no silvering appears, and bring out the engraved lines with a dark panel line shade.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
