Responsibility details are not available.
A set of foot figures in 1:72 scale devoted to the French Old Guard from the period of the Napoleonic wars. The soldiers are modeled standing at ease, that is, in a resting stance with the weapon at the foot. The manufacturer is the firm Strelets; the castings are of soft plastic of one color and are supplied unpainted and unassembled. The set follows on from other pose sets of the same unit, so a whole muster can be put together from them.
The Old Guard formed the elite foot part of the imperial guard and was committed sparingly, more as a last reserve than as ordinary line infantry. Its appearance is fundamental for a modeler: the tall bearskin cap makes a silhouette you will not mistake for anything else in a diorama, and the white crossbelts on a dark coat gives a strong contrast even over a few millimeters of a figure's height.
The tall furry cap is at the same time the largest surface of the figure and decides the result. Do not paint it pure black: use a dark gray or dark brown base and suggest the texture of the fur with a dry brush a step lighter in tone drawn from the top down. Handle the dark coat the same way, that is, a base somewhat lighter than the intended impression, a dark wash and accenting of the edges. Draw the white crossbelts with a thin brush along the edge; if the line runs, correct it afterward with dark paint around it, not with another white coat. Before painting, wash the plastic with detergent and prime it, otherwise the paint will rub off the sharp edges. At the end unify the surface with matte clear.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
