Decals in 1:72 scale for the Polikarpov I-153 fighter biplane, concentrating on machines captured and used by the Finnish Air Force.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the Polikarpov I-153. The theme is machines that fell into Finnish hands and went on serving in their colors. These are therefore markings that an ordinary kit does not offer and that will turn a model into a more interesting piece.
The I-153 was a Soviet single-engine fighter biplane with an upper wing cranked into the shape of a gull's wing and with retractable landing gear, an unusual combination on biplanes. It came about as a late stage of a line that was already lagging behind modern all-metal fighters by the time it was committed, but thanks to its agility it was not lost in the air. Finland obtained and used several machines of this type.
The wet method is the usual one: cut the element out close to the printing, dip it in lukewarm water for a moment and let it stand until it starts to slide freely off the backing. Then slide it onto a dampened spot on the model, straighten it with a soft brush and blot off the excess water. A surface of smooth gloss varnish will limit silvering, and on fabric coverings with a raised texture a decal softener helps. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version; a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined beyond repair.
The set is for modelers who build prewar and early wartime aircraft in 1:72 scale and who like the less familiar fates of machines. The particular machines and the placing of the elements are described in the instructions in the package.
The package holds decals. The kit, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included, unless stated otherwise.
