This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter captures the German Waffenträger weapon carrier with the 105 mm leFH-18 howitzer from the end of the Second World War. The richly broken-up kit holds parts on a number of sprues, a metal barrel, photo-etched parts and individual track links. The howitzer is set on a rotating pedestal above a low tracked chassis.
The Waffenträger (weapon carrier) came about in the last months of the war as a cheap and simple self-propelled way of getting a field howitzer onto a tracked chassis. The Krupp/Ardelt design used components derived from the vehicles of the Hetzer and 38D series and was powered by an air-cooled Tatra engine. The leFH-18 howitzer of 105 mm caliber sat on a rotating pedestal and could be taken off if need be. Only three prototypes were built by the end of the war.
Assemble the running gear and the individual track links first, and only then close the build up. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic, and clean the metal barrel and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the base coat on and lay the paints on with an airbrush. You will bring the open fighting platform, the mechanisms and the chassis to life with dark washes, dry-brushing and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
