A marking sheet for the Tiger heavy tank in 1:72 scale. Twelve vehicles from the summer of 1944, mostly from the fighting in Normandy and in Poland, with large turret numbers.
Responsibility details are not available.
The year 1944 found the heavy tank battalions split between west and east. In Normandy they fought against the landings, in Poland they were falling back ahead of the summer offensive. Vehicles from both theaters have one thing in common: they carried large three-digit numbers on the turret, often in outline only, so that they could not be made out from a distance. It is these numbers that are the main content of the sheet, and in 1:72 scale they decide whether a model reads as a particular machine or merely as a type.
The sheet covers machines numbered 007, 205, 112, 211, 221 and others from the heavy battalions operating in Normandy in June and August 1944, further vehicles numbered 300, 301 and 312 from a battalion deployed in Poland in the summer of the same year, and two vehicles from armored formations operating on the Eastern Front and in Italy. Several of them also carry the name of the commander.
On armor plate the markings face a rougher surface than on an aircraft. It pays to polish the spot under the number and to use a generous dose of decal softener, so that the film clings to the welds and to the cast texture of the turret. Add the dust and the chipping only at the end, otherwise exactly what you bought the sheet for will disappear.
