Wheel chocks of the Russian type in 1:72 scale from LP Models are a small resin accessory for an airfield scene, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs among airfield accessories, not among models of aircraft. Its contents are wheel chocks, that is, the chocks the ground crew places under the landing gear wheels so that a standing aircraft does not roll away. LP Models offers them in 1:72 scale in a form corresponding to Russian and Soviet practice. The exact number of pieces in the package and the dimensions are given on the packaging.
An aircraft model set on a bare base looks static. All it takes, though, is to add two chocks under the main wheels and the scene immediately gains both scale and a story, because the viewer reads subconsciously that the machine is standing on the apron. On Russian and Soviet aircraft chocks were used in wooden and in rubber form, usually joined by a cable or a chain so that they could be pulled away from the wheel without bending down. They are therefore a rewarding accessory on fighters as much as on transport and attack machines.
The parts are very small in 1:72 scale, so separate them from the casting block with a new blade and work over a surface from which they can be retrieved. Before painting, wash them in lukewarm soapy water because of mold release residue and apply primer. The wooden form comes to life with a base of ocher, a dark wash in the growth rings and fine dry brushing. Leave rubber chocks rather dark gray than black, as pure black kills detail in a small scale. Finally add a little dust from pigments, so that the chocks do not look new.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a model of an aircraft are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
