PO-3 concrete fence 1:72 is a resin diorama accessory from Metallic Details, standard reinforced concrete fencing for scenes in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of equipment but an element of the setting for a diorama. The box holds eight resin fence panels and nine footings in 1:72 scale from which you build a continuous run of the standard PO-3 reinforced concrete fencing. The parts are unpainted and unassembled; paints and glue are not included in the package. Because the panels repeat, two or more sets can be joined together to create a longer wall along the whole scene.
Prefabricated concrete fences of the PO series were the most widespread way in eastern Europe of enclosing a military airfield, barracks, a fuel depot or an industrial plant. The panels were seated into concrete footings or posts, so the fencing could be put up quickly, without deep foundations and in practically any length. The designation PO-3 belongs to a particular type of panel; the individual variants of the series differ in the division and the relief of the front face but otherwise share the same structural logic. For a modeler such a fence is a rewarding element: it makes no show of itself, yet it gives a scene scale, depth and a clear sense of place.
Wash the castings first in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter and level the cut with sanding paper; do not breathe resin dust in, and work with respiratory protection. Bond the joints with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Build the panels on a flat surface and keep checking that they are vertical, as a leaning fence shows at once on a finished diorama. After the primer, lay down a light gray base, put a dark wash into the joints and around the foot of the panels, bring the edges out with a dry brush and dust the lower part with pigments. Irregular patches, damp staining and creeping green will give the concrete some age.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
