This is an animal figure, not a kit of equipment. The set belongs to a line of small farm and wild animals which the maker makes in several scales. The number of pieces in the package, the material and the dimensions are stated on the box. When ordering, please watch the scale and the maker — similarly named animal figures are made by other brands too, and in 1:72 scale the difference between them looks inconspicuous.
A sheep suits a diorama at farmsteads, pastures, field tracks and rural scenes in mountain areas. In 1:72 scale a grown animal measures only a few millimeters, so a clean outline and a natural stance decide. That is exactly why small animals are placed in little groups rather than singly — the viewer's eye reads them as a flock, not as individual castings.
Separate the figure from the casting block or the supports with a sharp cutter, never by twisting it off, and sand the trace of the cut with fine abrasive paper. Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry. Apply a very thin base coat, so that the texture of the fleece does not get clogged. Choose the base shade in the broken white to gray-beige range, then a brown-gray wash and a lighter dry brush — that is how the fleece gains depth. Darken the muzzle, the ears and the hooves and only suggest the eyes. At the end a matte clear coat and a pinch of dust pigment on the underside of the body, so that the figure ties optically to the surface of the diorama.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
