Slovak National Uprising 1944, Czechoslovak Legends in La-5FN, Part II is the second part of a decal series in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker AML Decals, devoted to Czechoslovak La-5FN fighters of 1944.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale that follows loosely on from the first part of the series. It again focuses on Soviet Lavochkin La-5FN fighters in Czechoslovak hands in 1944 and offers further color schemes that did not appear in the first part. It is not a kit but an addition to a La-5 model in this scale. Color drawings for applying the insignia and the camouflage are included.
Czechoslovak fighter units armed with the La-5FN played a part in supporting the fighting in Slovakia in 1944. The La-5FN was a development version of the Lavochkin with an improved radial engine and a better view from the cockpit, which made it one of the most successful Soviet fighters of the second half of the war. The machines carried the typical Soviet camouflage completed by distinguishing features of particular units and crews.
Before the decals go on, varnish the surface of the model with a gloss coat, otherwise a silvery haze will appear under the film. Cut the decal out close to the motif, soak it briefly in warm water and let it rest until it starts to slide freely over its backing. Settling it onto engraved lines and the canopy is helped by a decal softener, and the pressure is worked out with a soft cloth or a cotton swab. Once dry, varnish it with a matte coat and only then add washes and weathering.
Decals are a modeling addition. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
